Wooh, I'm glad that Ansky made the arguments before I had to.

There are a lot of good reasons for a split, and if we want this to be the premier place on the Internet to talk about tournament strategy, we have to evolve along with the game. I think if we don't do this, people are going to find other places eventually. We have a real core of people who have come up through MTT in the last few years, and I think we feel a certain affinity and loyalty to this place as a result, a desire to give back. But that's being wasted because the forum as is does not foster higher level discussion or tapping the minds of the truly talented people here.

Given the extremely low amount of high stakes posts in MTT right now, we are going to get shot down immediately.

So if you really think we need this forum, prove it. Make some posts. Let's see what happens.

Obviously I don't quite get how it works when talking to the higher ups, but I see it as the opposite. ppl don't post high stakes MTT hands because of the mere fact that its not a high stakes board. All ppl see are 1 dollar tournament hands so they get discouraged... thats basically everyone's entire point for why there should be a high stakes forum.

I don't see why it would be so hard to convey that sentiment to mat/whoever else decides.

I'll respond to other stuff later or tomorrow, i'm going to bed.

Ansky,

I really don't think this is the case, and if it is, then it's pretty ridiculous.

We can't just go make a forum everytime somebody thinks we might have something to talk about. We'd have 300 forums by now. If people aren't going to take the time out of their day to create some high stakes posts now, they probably won't later either.

Okay, there are like ten new posts up in the time that it takes me to write one, so I'll just say this. Justin, you're right that a lot of us have outgrown MTT and want something better. What's wrong with that? We WANT to give back, we like this place, and we want to participate. But the current composition of the forum stifles that. Look, if this doesn't happen, then by necessity it will spring up somewhere else. Those of us who want a community to kick around genuinely tough hands and advanced strategy with top players will find it. Or make it.

Ridiculous or not this is the case, and you don't have to take my word for it, just ask... well anyone who plays high stakes MTTs and has no interest in posting in MTT.

And we aren't asking for 300 more forums based on random other interests, this is such a meaningless hyperbole. There are plenty of other forums that have split based on stakes because of interest for it. This is the case now. It's not like I'm saying we need a stud/8 MTT board because no one posts stud/8 MTT hands... we are talking about a substantial amount of traffic that is being turned away.

Ok all,
I am done in this thread, if you get another forum so be it. I will end with this though. The unabashed sense of "entitlement" from some of you guys is saddening/sickening/etc, etc.

Ansky,

I understand what your saying, and am actually in favor of a split in the future. I just don't think it needs to be done right now.

What I was referring to in my '300....' comment was something really only mods would know about. We have threads in the mod forum ALL the time about random topics receiving their own forum. Most of the time they get shot down, because their posts could really go into other forums, and people don't think there is a 'need' or enough traffic to warrant a separate forum.

At this point in time, this is where the HSMTT forum is, unfortunately.

What about a forum that combines high-stakes online tournaments and live high-buyin MTT strategy (which isn't really covered thoroughly on Tournament Circuit), sorry if that's been suggested already. Seems like a reasonable move. I'm not sure if I'd post more, but it seems like a good board to have.

Shane,

Pretty much anytime you try and mingle community type forums with strategy type forums your asking for a bunch of bitching.
