At the ordinary Saturday noon $540 tournament last weekend, we had 109 entries. Maybe it was more than usual because of the All-Star thing, but the poker room didn't seem any busier in general than any other Saturday.

Which do you think will have a bigger prize pool? (If you had to guess.)

A 1K event at the Wynn, or a $330 event at the Venetian. Do you think the Venetian will draw 3X the number of entrants?

I would be surprised to see the Venetian draw more than 150 players for any of its $330 buy-in deep-stack events.

Furthermore, I would set the over/under at 100 players for each of the $550 events at the Venetian.

The lack of TV, plus the relative dearth of live action at the Venetian (players tend to be creature of habit, and many players still prefer the Bellagio), means that the Venetian will probably have relatively small fields of mostly locals.

Again, TV (with associated sponsorship money from online poker "schools" for final table players) was the driving force for many events during the boom.

today's $330 got ~350 entrants

Interesting.

Binion's only managed to get 201 players for the UPC Ladies Event (to be aired on WGN SuperStation in April) on February 9, and Binion's never got more than 150 players (achieved on opening day, October 14) for any of the $340 buy-in UPC televised events.

I actually like the Venetian poker room: lots of space, lots of light, high ceiling.

Any word yet on how many players the first event at the Wynn has attracted?

Today, the Venetian had over 220 players as stated and first place was over $ 20,000.... The first two days has been good. Definately an awesome tournament with the amount of starting chips and 40 minute levels...

I went there today to play in one of the $330 satellites. They had 72 players for their $2,000 buy-in event today. The satellite action was quite good. Only 6% juice and the players at my table were horrible. We got down to 2 in one hour, despite 20 minute levels and 3,000 in starting chips (we chopped $1,560 each).

The main poker room had all 23 tables going -- for NL there were 5 $1/3 games and 6 $2/5 games with 1 $5/10 and 1 10/20 table.
