[censored] the US mint for wasting money on this same stupid idea over and over. Phase out the penny if you want to do something that will actually save our country money.

Who gives a [censored], money is money. [/ QUOTE ] Some money sits in my pockets silently. Some money jingles in my pocket. The weight of some money is hardly noticeable in my pockets. The weight of some money adds significantly to my pockets. |

All I know is I can't wait to find a handful of 1 dollar coins in my couch someday.

Move to Australia: they use coins in denominations of 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, and $2, AND coin use is very widespread.
Notice the conspicuous lack of pennies? Yeah, it's because THEY ROUND UP/DOWN TO THE NEAREST 5c. SO AWESOME. AND tax is included in listed prices, so when you see something at Hungry Jack's (Australian branch of Burger King) for $2.00, you know it's not really F*!@ing $2.12 like here in the States. Man I wanna go back there. |

Now that they replaced their awesome looking money with the Euro, which includes a one cent coin, I do not know if the practice is still kept. I have even been there as recently as a couple months ago, but I can't recall whether I got a 1 cent coin while there. Not paying a lot at supermarkets, etc., while on a business trip. |

Loonies and toonies are amazing, Canada has it right. I can have like 30 dollars in change in my pocket at any given time and it's really not heavy and lasts way longer than dollar bills.

While we are at it, color/size differentiate the bills. Nah, that'd be too radical for America to wrap its head around. [/ QUOTE ] Not to mention portraits. How awesome would it be to have a $20 bill with a bright colorful picture of a riverboat on the Mississippi at sunset with Mark Twain on the back? But can you imagine the unending politically driven debate to determine those portraits? Ugh. |
