Basically, every song Bob Dylan wrote that someone else performed. He's a great songwriter but should never be allowed to perform his own songs.

Again, while I respect your right to have an opinion, this is one of the most short-sighted comments I've ever read (and I frequent OOT!).

It's one thing to say that you don't like his voice, but his approach and phrasing are unbelievable. He never tried to be a conventional pop superstar. Next you'll be saying the same thing about Neil Young.

exactly! neil's voice (and dylan's also) is a bit like miles davis' horn---magnificent in it's uniqueness. in miles' case, almost everyone of these cop and suspense tv shows has some studio guy copying miles' muted style throughout. and the earlier dylan's "visions of johanna"..........it speaks for itself..............b

I'm sorry, I respect his songwriting but his voice makes my toes curl. I just can't get past it.

"Hit Me Baby One More Time"--Travis for Britney Spears

"Dancing in the Moonlight"--Smashing Pumpkins for Thin Lizzy

"When The Stars Go Blue"--The Coors and Bono for Ryan Adams (even though I really love the original as well)

Oh and Dave Matthews Band did the "Long Black Veil" cover

[/ QUOTE ]

you have to have a special kind of voice to do "long black veil" justice, and don't think i'd care to hear DMB perform it

Shudder to Think did an excellent cover of Atlanta Ryhtym Section's "So Into You". Took a twangy sounding track and turned it into an awesome song.
