I called and he showed KK for top set, MHING.

the river really isn't close, the only reason people wont fold here is because it sucks to fold for 1 bet on the river getting big odds after already putting 2 in.

This river raise here scares people into just calling with all kinds of hands, even to the good players it looks like KK, then AA, there's really no types of players who 3 bet AK on the river.

I expected to see 88.

I still think you played the hand well. Im my opinion, he made a mistake by slow-playing both the flop and the turn. He could easily have lost money with this play, especially by not attacking you on the turn. It is a matter of taste, of course.

Not much you can do when someone draws trips on your aces. That's poker.

Was the river raise correct in your opinion? If we so rarely ahead that calling the 3-bet is not correct, are we going to be ahead over 50% of the time when he bets into us again on the river that we can raise?

If you can fold to the 3-bet the river raise is clearly correct.
