I think pushing the flop is horrible. [/ QUOTE ] I disagree. I don't know if it is the best play, but it certainly isn't horrible. If we shove we are representing a big overpair very strongly. We probably fold pairs below jacks alot, and sometimes higher against nits. We also have a decent amount of outs vs. an overpair and sets. As well, we get it in with decent amount of equity versus a draw. |

[ QUOTE ] I think pushing the flop is horrible. [/ QUOTE ] Why? [/ QUOTE ] It looks like we have very little FE, and we are just getting our money in drawing to 8 or less outs. |

push flop = -ev (best case: break-even)

I kinda think it's better to make a move on the turn, given how the hand has been played thus far. Of course, if the turn was something else with different action, I might change my mind, so this thinking is results oriented.
But as played, I'm inclined to raise the turn. I think our FE is much higher now that we've called a raise on the flop, there is an overcard, and all draws whiffed |

[ QUOTE ] I think pushing the flop is horrible. [/ QUOTE ] Why? [/ QUOTE ] Because villain has shown a tremendous amount of strength, this sort of play will be very good against thinking players who have a much wider range here, but typically after you get cr'd on the flop you are drawing to 8 outs and have little fold equity. |

Could pushing the turn trying to represent a hand like AQ work? Or are pairs bigger than ours still going to call? I haven't played a lot of 200NL, just wondering.

It *could* work but the important thing to consider here is that against someone we haven't got a read on, its quite unlikely to work since we have little fold equity vs his likely range.

why just call the flop? if you were going to continue with the hand you should have re-raised the flop, if not, fold. now you're not getting the odds to draw vs. an overpair. if you think he's not folding an overpair, then you've got to fold now.
