also are there any dos commands i can use without booting up windows to save files onto an outside source? or does a bootable cd help with that? i know the name of the folder i need to save fwiw.

i think i'll have to use a bootable cd, the repairs haven't worked, the HD freezes during the chkdsk /r sequence. is there any way to get to a restore point without booting up windows?? and yea...

yea the other issue is that 4" is really small. being 5'5" in height is not as bad as be 4" in your pants imo.
