I've tried to open up my early game play a little as some on here have suggested. Is the play on this abandonded pot here so standard that I should have been doing this 6 months ago?

Fold preflop. At this point in the tournament your primary concern is to save chips for later on; there's no need at all to get involved here.
As played, I think that the steal on the turn is perfectly fine. It isn't likely that someone is slowplaying a monster on both the flop and the turn, and a flush or straight draw would probably have bet the turn. Thus, you should be able to take the pot down most of the time, so just fire away. |

looks like a fine point to steal. I call PF also FWIW.

Depending on the table I may raise preflop.

This is perfect. I would have fired on the flop when it was checked around to me.
I know your game pretty well and the adjustments you are trying to make. Up to this point you have only played hands that had show-down value. This is a good PF call because you have a hand with homerun potential against someone who can't lay down TPTK and you have the button. Good hand. |

<<I know your game pretty well>>
To say the least! <<Up to this point you have only played hands that had show-down value. This is a good PF call because you have a hand with homerun potential >>> I must admit I enjoyed making a straight flush today when I completed in the sb with 74s and my opponent just couldnt get off his AQ with the ace on the board. Good Times. Thanks for the responses. I felt like I was on the right track. Les |

I would never consider playing this hand preflop--especially in a Speed. Is there something that I'm missing here? I've never put much into implied odds in SNGs, especially speeds.
