Default KQs verse strange turn raise

I think I'm missing value in hands like this. Villian is a 26/17 type tag, fairly aggressive.

Are you 3 betting or calling this turn? How do you play the river if it's a K, a Q, or a 3rd spade or diamond?

He might do this with A8 or A9, KJ, or even a random Kx. Of course all the two pair hands involving a K are also somewhat likely. He could be doing this figuring your flop bet was any two raising cards, and he can snap you off on the turn better than he could have on the flop. Pairs that just picked up a frush draw are definitely raising here as well.

For that reason, I call and absolutely call any non ace non diamond river card. I still probably call on an ace or a diamond, but not 1000% of the time. YHIG enough of the time to see a showdown.

I think the question is between call and 3bet here. Folding is not an option.

i'm torn. If he makes "free showdown raises" I 3bet here but if he is more on the straight forward side I call.

Only if river is not an ace or diamond. I am also reluctant (though not 100% opposed) to donking river cards that pair the board. I'd rather see the board pair 4's on the river than 9s.

What rivers don't you donk?

I think an A is the only one you shouldn't. I think you should be bet/folding rather than c/cing some of the other rivers you think that you shouldn't bet.

I think that a c/r should be considered on a K or Q river. I also don't donk an ace or a diamond, though that may be weak/tight.
