Default American Dreamz

Oh my god, this movie is funny. Omer's first on stage performance had me in tears.

Our theater had a false fire alarm at *THE* cruicial moment in the film. It could have been interactive theater! We all thought it was part of the movie at first.

Anyone else seen it?

My mom said she saw it today and said it was funny, but could have been a lot funnier.

I might see if it when it comes out on video.

Do they basically go through American Idol from start to finish?

My mom thought it sucked. So much so, that after she heard from my brother that I wanted to see it, she called me on her way out of the theater to say how unfunny it was.

Not really. It's a spoof on American Idol, George W., fame, LA, Ohio... Not a mockumentary, a true comedy with a plot, but spoofy nonetheless.

Elaine,

I'm on the fence about seeing this movie, will probably wait until it's on cable, though. Can you compare it to any other spoof/satire movies in terms of style/quality? I'm somewhat curious about this movie, but what I've read hasn't gotten me positive enough to want to see it.

EM,
I went to the cinema last night to see Silent Hill....That was full up so I went and saw this...

It was an average film that had 3 or 4 amusing bits....But was very predictable...

Hugh Grant is a "pinch yourself" merchant and how he makes any films is beyond me....he plays the same bumbling idiotic stereotypical brit once again, yet this time with a false cockney accent....He's about as cockney as I am chinese....

It was a send up of Pop/American Idol...and not a very good one IMO...

El D,
Definitely worth waiting to see on cable...

Vava

You aren't missing anything. This past weekend was dreadful for movies -- all degrees of "not very good," with the best being the Sentinel, then American Dreamz, and the worst being Silent Hill (which at least had some interesting visuals).

At least it's only another four days until "Stick It" comes out, which should be better than the other three movies about RVs, Planes (sans snakes), or Spelling Bees.

Diablo,

I am confident I will see this at some point, if only because Mandy Moore is so hot.

would you compare it to Josie & The Pussycat's?

i thought that satire was quite fun & hilarious...even though most people hated it.
