Default music when you\'re feeling down

what are some bands / songs you like to listen to when you're in one of those moods ?

sometimes i will be in a mood where i will intentionally listen to something fun & upbeat to get me in a better mood but other times i just like to listen to something that will help me feel. meaning more mellow songs where i can get something out of the lyrics i guess.

what music do you like to go for that 'comfort' or whatever ?

if I listen to upbeat music when I feel down, I feel like punching people, so I listen to downbeat music and try to squeeze every last drop of melancholy out of my system.

for this Morphine is very good

also some songs from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

also a french singer by the name of Alain Souchon

Any upbeat Dave Matthews Band... really they're applicable to any mood.

Overly expected perhaps, but I put on the blues, especially Chicago blues.

i usually end up going for stuff that's on the dark side of things, not too heavy, and a little bit cerebral, but without the "pity me" lyrics.

so....

Radiohead "Kid A"
Bjork "Medulla"
OSI "OSI"
Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon"
