Default Intel Dual Core

Has anybody used this yet? I used to be semi-knowledgeable about computers, but that was a while ago. I was looking at this Dell for poker+internet+music and could use a couple opinions. My current HP is about to go in the the tank. It crashed this week and the hard drive self test has predicted "imminent failure".

I'm curious too. I'm looking for a machine for my daughter for college, and this looks great. Also, for what it's worth, the Inspiron 6400 (in the small business side of Dell) seems to have similar specs for a few $ less.

not to sound like a fanboy or anything, but AMDs implementation of dual core is far superior to that of Intels. If you are capable of building a machine I'd highly recommend looking at nforce4 + dualcore AMD, or dualcore opteron.

Well I know their prescott based dual core sucks but their mobile version might be decent seeing as their mobile cpus in general are pretty nice.

many reviews have been saying that the intel core duo is the fastest chip on the market... conroe coming later this year will almost certainly be the fastest though

I use AMD processors at home, but for laptops the Core Duo is supposed to provide the best balance of performance and power consumption on the market today.

Anecdotal evidence: At our office, we delayed a 1000+ unit laptop purchase by three months because the pre-production samples provided by Lenovo (IBM) and Dell were so impressive.

I got the Dell Lattitude D820, which has the Intel Core Duo. Its great so far and super fast. No lag at all with PT, GT+ and a poker client open, as well as 2p2 and music.
