Default J8s: Call or raise for value?

The players in this hand were all passive except the for the CO was 16/7/3.7 after about 200 hands.

With a gutshot, overcard and BDFD I figure I have enough edge to raise here.

Party Poker 0.50/1 Hold'em (10 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with J, 8.
UTG calls, 2 folds</font>, MP1 calls, Hero calls, MP3 calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB completes, BB checks.

Flop: (8 SB) 9, 7, 5 (8 players)</font>
SB checks, BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 bets</font>, Hero???

I think Doyle Brunson calls these something like double belly busters. LOL.

Anyway you have 2 inside straight draws, not just one.

Dont raise to knock players out on the flop. You would like to get some value if you make a straight.

So I would just call the flop bet.

I raise here. I want to win with just my jack sometimes and that's the best way to do it.

U donīt have an edge HU but only against at least two opps. Still I think a raise is the best play cause it has so many benefits: 1)If someone behind calls, the raise was for value
2) U might buy the button 3) U may get a free card 4) The pot is not so small so u protect ur J outs. So fire away James! Infact not raising here is really bad poker! Also u donīt have a gut-shot, but a double belly buster: Both a T and 6 gives u a straight. The call pf is debatable. But since this table seems very loose/passive I think it's good

I'm obviously playing very bad poker then... edit: Yes, could buy the button (head not screwed on today) I'd call and keep the others in the pot so I can be paid off later. Bad?

What button do u have? Like I said I don't think call is a great play no. If so many limps pf players will probably continue anyway. Push it!

The problem with raising a hand like this is if EXACTLY two players call your flop raise. You either want 5 of 'em to run with you, or you want the hand to end right here or with your turn bet, when it's checked to you.

Call, keep 'em all in...6 people calling one bet is the same, in this case, as 3 people calling 2. Your draws are both to the nuts. You don't care how mnay opponents you have.

Probably would have folded pre-flop but would raise on the flop with all the possibilities available.

this is a situation where you want these people to call. They will be scared away if you raise I feel. If you were caught in the middle of some heavy raising in this field I feel like you definitely can push your equity edge, but not here, especially because the pot is so small.
