PS $5 - KK, non-scary board, vs other other big stack, and I\'m lost

Yes, the pre-flop raise is terrible. I tend to vary between 2bb and 4bb in unraised pot (yes, 2bb is often all it takes at this level). I had just played a hand where I raised 2bb to try to steal and had to show down garbage, so I hoped I could induce an all-in from one of the small stacks by doing it again with a hand. I hate the play, and I know "this hand plays much different with a better raise". But... as played, what do you do on the flop? Board isn't all that scary, but I hate finding myself in a battle against the only player who has me covered. Can you even think of folding this? Call and check to him on the turn? Fire again? Push? Push, and be grateful to lose all your chips as punishment for the weak pf raise? I'm lost here. |

Raise more preflop. Push after the flop raise.

Re: PS $5 - KK, non-scary board, vs other other big stack, and I\'m los
At a $5, I think I'd usually just push here. This sort of flop min-reraise on this board usually looks to me like "I hit the board some, and I think your continuation bet is full of crap" more than it does a set or two pair. Even at the $5s and even with the PF minraise, the two pair hands are unlikely, so you're really mostly worried about 33/66/99 or a very unlikely AA. And there are enough draws that I don't really want to let him see another card for free.
There are about seven zillion hands a 5er could be playing here that you're ahead of, so you're good more than often enough to push here. |

Re: PS $5 - KK, non-scary board, vs other other big stack, and I\'m los
So the consensus seems to be to push on the flop.
Any consideration to stack sizes here? Villian has 5K, I have 4K, the other four players have about another 4K between them. Do I want to avoid a confrontation with the one player who can bust me? If so, how do I play this differently? Or is KK just so strong that I take my shot and don't worry about stack sizes? |

Please stop minraising preflop, it absolutely [censored] sucks.

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know about stack sizes - I quite honeslty didn't look. I did happen to notice, though, that...to quote yourself on this one.. you have "KK, [on a] non-scary board" in a big pot. easy easy easy push. Sometimes he may have you beat, but if you're going to look at stack sizes at a time like this, you're playing too timid overall. |

[/ QUOTE ] You should probablly listen to some of the other advice as it will probably help you in not getting into these awkward situations. 1: No more minraising PF. 2: Lead flop 1/2-4/5 pot. 3: and of course, shove the flop all day at a 5$ STT |
