Default Attn. current Magic players

So it turns out there is a pre-release not too far from my house for the new set tomorrow. And I need *your* help to give me a crash course for a Ravnica + 3 Dissension booster sealed deck event. Good spolier links? General Ravnica thoughts? I used to play a decent amount of limited back in the day so I am not a total 'tard when it comes to card evaluation but I have not played with this block at all.

Off to Magic online to start looking at Ravnica cards...if I win packs I will give out prizes to people who helped me the most since I don't actually collect the cards.

Thanks!
-tpir

p.s. if my attempting to play Magic lowers your opinion of me (assuming you had one and it was in the positives) that is weak.

It's your avatar that really lowers my opinion of you.

I haven't played Magic in years. I watched a few dorks I know play it recently, and it apparently devolved into 10 second bouts of who-can-draw-their-miracle-card-combos-first instant deathmatches.

I'm assuming you meant constructed decks. Any deck in Extended or Vintage(what they call type 1 now) has been like that for years. Constructed is the nut low, only fun part is descoverying the decks and building them before anyone else.

I haven't checked out the full disension spoiler yet but I have done more than a few RRG drafts online. Also just for a disclaimer, I'm a more than competent limited player, participating in a PT or two (no where close to paluka though) just above average. My personal favoirte color combos to draft are RWB and RWU. Limited is all about card advantage and synergy. Blue I think(as always) as some of the best card advantage possiblitys out there.

This block is also about synergy, they have designed the cards to work together in "guilds" with the release of Ravinica there is a guild for all colors. Expect to play at least three colors and I would say if your card pool is made for it, and you are a good deck builder, splashing a fourth color or even playing all five shouldn't be out of the question.

Also the inclusion of all the ingots and double lands allow you to run a lower land count, ive run as low as 14 in draft wich I really never have done before, expect to run 15, probably 16.

Wow I wish I knew this much about poker... Gl and HF.
