Re: Noob Question #1 - Coldcalling Pocket Pairs preflop
You should always be willing to call a raise with a pocket pair using the 5/10 rule.
Consider reraising with the bigger pp's depending on villain's raising percentages. Obviously you are always reraising with KK/AA. |

Re: Noob Question #1 - Coldcalling Pocket Pairs preflop
Hero should apply the 5/10 rule mixed with a read of how likly he'll stack the opponent and call with PP<JJ.
JJ = probably Reraise 3xBB raise to 9BB. QQ/KK/AA - Reraise all the raises. Push AA/KK if we can. Theres my newbie 2cents. |

Re: Noob Question #1 - Coldcalling Pocket Pairs preflop
To call, it's about implied odds and stack sizes, and they go up against a loose and/or aggressive player. You said everyone is a full buy-in so you're fine and I think that raise is clear call by the 5/10 rule if you have reason to think your odds are good.
To reraise, you have to know the raiser's standards...my reraise range usually goes from 88-QQ, depending on how loose a raiser the opponent is. |

Re: Noob Question #1 - Coldcalling Pocket Pairs preflop
What is the 5/10 rule again? Or if there is a thread giving examples? I thought I had one bookmarked, but can't find it now and don't remember how to apply it.

Re: Noob Question #1 - Coldcalling Pocket Pairs preflop
If it takes less than 5% of your stack to call. Do it.
If it takes more than 10% of your stack to call. Don't do it. In between is your judgement call. |

5/10 rule? Link/explanation? [/ QUOTE ] If the raise is less than 5% of the relevant stack size you have a clear call. If it's more than 10% then you have a clear fold. If it's in between then you make a judgement call. |
