GF contacted by her ex...mental implosion ensues...

I'm sure plenty of you guys have run into this. The GF gets some random and obscure text/call from their ex (who she says was very "hurtful" and she still hasnt completely "healed" from that damage), something like "I want my sweatshirt back" and then your GF melts down into a puddle of stress, tension, and comments like "this ruined my whole day." Since you care about your GF and dont want to see her in this way, you do your best to cheer her up, comfort, etc., but the cycle keeps repeating. what do you say/do to try and help her snap out of this disgusting position of being mentally controlled by an ex? many will say that the whole recovery process is something she needs to do on her own and that if she reacts this way shes obviously still very early in the recovery process and shouldnt be in a new relationship anyways, but time-wise its been so long since she was with her ex... and surely theres SOMETHING that I can do to help point out how much of a pawn she is being to the questionable motives of her ex?

I'm totally convinced that there's no right answer to this question. Cases...

1) You tell GF in a nice way that she should probably stop talking to him at all. GF does nothing of the sort and problem doesn't get solved.

2) You don't tell her anything for a long while and then blow up one day because you can't deal with it. GF either walks or says "Yeah you're right"...and then keeps talking to him.

3) You do nothing forever and the problem never gets solved...

If she really has to heal then she shouldn't have gotten into someone else..especially if its been as long as you say it has "so long since.."

she's damaged goods. Start shopping for a replacement so you can get a refund. Recommend therapy before she goes on the market again.
