New Dell Laptop Wireless Problems
I just got a Dell Lattitude D820. I really like it so far, but my only problem is my wireless connection keeps dropping on me. When it goes out, it only goes for 30 seconds or so, but its enough that I have to relook for my network and it takes a minute to reconnect. It will be good for 10 minutes, then out, then good for 1 minute, then out, then good for 2 hours, then out, etc. Just random patterns. My wireless router is about 3 years old, so maybe its time to upgrade, but before I do, I wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions. I have 3 other networks that I'm picking up in my neighborhood, but all three are using WPA (which I am also), so I cant test to see if its just my connection or if its a laptop/wireless card problem.

Re: New Dell Laptop Wireless Problems
I had the exact same issue as you on my Inspiron E1705. I was still using an old Linksys B router.
I switched to a new Linksys G and everything cleared up and I've had no more issues. |

OK, that makes me feel better. I'm going out today to get a new router and will see if that works better.

Re: New Dell Laptop Wireless Problems
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the wireless cards in the new Latitudes are a/g only, so hopefully that will cure your problem.

Re: New Dell Laptop Wireless Problems
I got the Linksys router set up tonite and have had no problems so far. Thanks for the tip.
Its strange though because according to the paperwork with the laptop, the card that I got was B/G, not A/G. No biggie. |
