tricky spot for bottom 2 5/10
villian is stoplose, plays a lot of pots in position. I think he would raise a lot of draws here but im not sure if that's part of his game yet.
I don't really like any option in this hand, because there's a lot of cards I don't want to see come. After thinking about this hand later, I've decided that calling and pushing any non-spade / non - jack turn is the best. What do you think the best line is here? Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 handed) converter SB ($2021.50) BB ($3611.69) UTG ($897) MP ($2061) CO ($1747.81) Hero ($1000) Preflop: Hero is Button with 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $5. 3 folds, Hero raises to $35, SB (poster) calls $30, 1 fold. Flop: ($80) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero bets $60, SB raises to $195, Hero calls $905 (All-In), SB calls $770. Turn: ($2010) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) River: ($2010) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in) Final Pot: $2010 |

Re: tricky spot for bottom 2 5/10
Going all in is the best move. If you lose, you lose. What beats you? JJ, 88, 66, J8, 6J. The only hands that seem reasonable are the sets. The only other way I could possibly see playing it is reraising a HEALTHY amount on the flop... like $500-$600. If he's got you beat, well too bad, thats poker. AJ, KJ, an overpair, or a flush draw/straight draw is MUCH more likely. Get it in there with the best hand... if he's got you, he's got you.

Re: tricky spot for bottom 2 5/10
Actually I think he will only have 66 or 88 here if he has me beat. I really doubt he calls out of position here with any other hand. I did consider raising an amount other than all-in to try and get a little more out of a draw, but I'm unclear on what the optimal amount would be.

Re: tricky spot for bottom 2 5/10
I actually like your push.
Like you said, I think its very rare that you're behind here, and there are so many draws you don't know which turn cards are safe. 9T, 75, 79, QT/45 + fd, etc. The turn will be a headache. Pizza is actually right. |

Pushing the flop (like you did) is best, simply for metagame reasons.
