He\'s got a big hand, he\'s telling me, right?
This hand occurred less than an orbit into a Party $20 tourney. Obviously no reads, not yet...
Stacks: Me(t3740), Villain(t2980) I'm dealt 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] in BB and check behind after 3 limpers... Flop: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Pot is t180 and Villain bets t40. Button calls and so do I, of course. Turn brings the 3 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and I plan a check-raise. Villain bets t250 into a pot of t300. Button calls and I raise to t700. Question #1: Should I have raised more? Villain calls and Button folds. River brings 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and as soon as I bet t1000, Villian types in "you make a [censored] straight?" followed by "I don't think so". He then runs his clock down and pushes all-in for another t2200. My gut feeling says he hit a full house and is just talking [censored]. Still, can I be sure enough to pass up a call of t1200 to win t4150? Who'd call? Who'd fold? |

Um, no way I'm laying this. You're getting 3.5 to 1 with the nut straight. I can't wait to hit the call button.

This is about as blatant a tell as you can find online. You've got to fold. |

Re: He\'s got a big hand, he\'s telling me, right?
I would be so pissed that he said anything, because I hate to fold. But there is like a 99.9% rate on this type of crap being just what you think, crap. He has a boat (or quads). If you make a flush, and the board pairs and someone says "you got that flush? naaah, all in." you're fked.
I mean, if he was RLY scared of the str8, he could just call. |

Re: He\'s got a big hand, he\'s telling me, right?
what position did your villain call from? If it was from early position, maybe just maybe we was slowplaying a big pair. If it was from later position, I'm really fearing 77 b/c he made a suck bet on the flop and bet the turn heavy after a card coordinating with the board showed up. When he sees you checkraise after a straight card hits, he's got to put you on that hand. If you've got a hand like two pairs, I think you'd be betting or c/r-ing the flop and betting out on the turn to protect. Thus, I think he's pretty sure he thinks you hit that street. Now he tells you he knows that you have the straight...what kind of thinker is he? Do you respect him and he knows it? Is he a donk? If he's a donk, he's got a full for sure. If he limped in early position and he thinks that you could fold a straight then he could be bluffing with a high pair.
If you think he's capable of being a higher level thinker (and could be bluffing you here), I would call with 3.5:1. If he hasn't shown any tricky tendencies, I'd fold. I think the default play should be to fold. |

Re: He\'s got a big hand, he\'s telling me, right?
I think this is a call. If hes smart enough to not 3 bet turn with a set or two pair thinking you made a straight, hes smart enough to not say something that stupid with a boat.

btw, when I said easy easy easy call I also think he has the boat, but you have to call and it's easy.
