Default \"Official\" Live at the Bike thread (4/18) (5-5 NL)

Tonight's game is another 5-5 NL game with a $300 min/$500 max game, which always brings out the action. As usual, you can catch the festivities over at www.liveatthebike.com

Question for Bart:

Did you ever play 6-max Limit online or live?

If they even have 6-max live.

Did you like it more than FullRing?

A good player's edge is huge in those games imho.

If you just play a solid, albeit, grinding game in LV, manage your BR and quit when you are no longer a favorite to win that day, you should do well. With your talent and patience, picking the right casino, right game and table, you should do quite well. In fact, the hardest part will be game selection, NOT beating it.

yea...game selection is KEY...and playing at the right times too,

like playing LATE at night (b/w 10pm and 3am) and playing in high traffic casinos like mirage/casear's/wynn

I really hope I can do well

Obviously not Bart, but I think part of the reason why you shouldn't look to see 6-man tables live -- at least with any semblance of regularity -- is that the house needs to make X dollars per table per hour in order to make the obscene profit that they are accustomed to making.

Let's say it's $100/hour. Now, with 10 people, each is giving $10/hour (yes, I know it doesn't actually work out to that with a rake-set-up, but follow along).

However, with 6-people ... now each is paying in almost $17 -- or 70% more.

With the nits that frequent the live rooms waiting to post until it's their big blind, even if they could post in the cut-off, and how they are tightwads with every cent, do you think these guys will make a 6-man table possible where each is, in essence, paying a lot more than the "a lot" that they already begrudge the house?

I'd love it ... but I don't see it happening.

Aren't you going to school to be a lawyer...?

Pretty soon you'll be billing out for $500/hour -- so don't worry about the $1500/week.
