Back in the day: Scrambled Porn (as of now SFW)

This discussion came up at work after someone was caught humming the tune for "ELECTRIC BLUE" It went a little like: "now the time has come, for you to see the show...show...show" and then some chick with hot red lips would whisper ELECTRIC BLUE.

For all you young OOT's with no clue what Electric Blue is. It was on the PLAYBOY channel (was it 36?) back in in the early 90's and was the channels backbone for a long time. Electric Blue was their video line put on the TV channel with one of the CATCHIEST theme songs of all time.....LONG BEFORE NIGHT CALLS.

Anyone recall this or any other fond memories when cable was so easily stolen and scrambled by parental control?

HAHA i remember that show, When Cable came out in queens i recall that we got it ( i was like , I dunno 10 maybe younger) and seeing that, un scrambled too mmm

I remember Electic Blue from my white trash friends who had the giant satellite dish.

I also remember the old analog cable boxes, where you could turn the fine tuner all the way to the right and watch Cinemax - black and white with no sound. It was like an artsy-fartsy black and white movie where you had to make up your own dialog. I was 16, lot or bleary eyed-mornings after staying up until 2:30 to catch "Emmanuelle V". Search that cable guide for "Nudity" but not "Brief Nudity", that's just frustration waiting to happen, and of course the holy grail "Strong Sexual Content". I'd plan my week around it.

Bilitis was the first soft-core I ever saw, and still the best in my mind. Lots of boarding school lesbian explorations. Let's see what others that stuck out in my mind? All the Emanuelles of course, Fiona, 2069 - a Sex Odyssey, All the Sweet Chastity(s)... Damn, why am I drawing such a blank, these things were such a big part of my life.

A few years later, my Mom started dating this guy who had legitimate Cinemax. I would stay at his house sometimes and I got to see a lot of these movies in color, with sound. Invariably, the dialog was so dumb it completely ruined the movie for me. The stuff I had made up that was going on was 1000 times more interesting.

YES. I remeber one of the greatest moments of my life as an 11 or 12 year old was when I casually surfed past the scrambled Spice channel late one night and by some holy act of god it was not scrambled. I think I was up until 6 AM.

In the early 80s the channel was called Escapade, before Playboy took it over. On my cable box the channel was 26, and MTV was 25. So I would sit and watch 26 all day, and if I heard a key in the door I'd scramble for the remote to flip back to MTV (this was back when they actually just played videos all day). The TV room was just inside the front door.

The remote actually had a long thick cable connecting it to the cable box. The remote was where they selected which channels got descrabled. It had a rotary dial for channel selection, and on the inside was a circuit board. I saw that on the circuit board there was a solder bridge across two points on the dial. This completed the circuit between two wires only when Showtime (our only subscribed channel) was selected. So I just connected the wires permanently, and we got all the other premium channels free.

Everything on cable back then was softcore though, so after a while it got annoying. But we didn't have the internet for porn back then, so it was the best I could do. Electric Blue sucked though. At least the movies they showed on Escapade and Playboy were cut versions of real hardcore movies. Shows like Electric Blue were just fake, and obviously so.
