Default OT: I am a tourney donkey

Hi guys, I am a tourney donk trying to make the transition to cash game player. Before you ask I have read the primer on ssnl forum.

I just want to ask about any tips/pointers about the differences in style of play and what I should look out for. I will be posting hands as I start. Also, I have read a lot of posts and what do you guys mean when you say this guy is floating me etc?

Thanks

p.s. if this is in the wrong forum please direct me to the right one.

Thanks.

In cash games, you generally will have a much deeper stack. Postflop play is more important, as the majority of the pot will be put in after the flop. Hands like low pocket pairs and suited connectors go up in value because you can win a big pot when you make your hand but get away cheap if you don't. Floating is when you just call a flop bet, generally from a preflop raiser. For example, dude raises preflop, you call in position with 77. Flop comes T42 rainbow and he bets half the pot. You call ("float") because you think he likely has busted overcards and will give up on the turn, so you can take it away or show it down as you choose.
