He is going south, but I really dont care
I was playing some 5-150 spread limit last night and a solid regular went south on the table to the tune of $100.
The player is a nice guy, welcomed at the table. He is a rock solid TAG, rarely with a losing session. He is well liked by both the players and staff. So he wins a big pot and while stacking his chips he pockets a stack of reds, gets up and takes them to another player in the 20 game, putting the stack with their's. This is obviouly done in a sneaky manner, he did not intend for anyone to see this. The thing is, he covers the table by >3:1, will be leaving in an hour or so, so the chances that the missing $100 will come into play is slim to none. I told the dealer quitely and told her not to worry about it. She understood exactly why I was not worried, it was very unlikely it was going to play this night. A little while later on a break, I ran into him outside and told him "not too worry about the $100". He seemed a little shocked, but told me he owed another player the money and did not think it would be a problem as he was leaving soon anyway. We had a nice talk about it. Bottom line is he knew what he doing was wrong, but really didnt care because of the situation (it not likely to come into play). So on one hand the rules are the rules. On the other hand, he is a solid TAG, respected regular that I really do not need to piss off. On the whole I feel fine with my choice not to make a big deal of it, but it still makes me a little mad that he would do that in the first place. What do you think? |

Re: He is going south, but I really dont care
If the nice guy was about to leave, why'd he need to hand-over the $100 right then? Just wait a minute. I understand that it wasn't likely to matter, but doing something sneaky for no discernable benefit is creepy.

Re: He is going south, but I really dont care
Given the situation you described, I wouldn't care very much that the guy was taking $100 off the table. HOWEVER, if a fish pulled $100 off the table, I'd say something. So, when a TAG pulls $100 off the table, I say something. Otherwise, I'm a hypocrite and I don't like feeling that way about myself.

Even if a fish went south, I wouldn't care. Anything to keep the fish happy and coming back.

This is kind of standard at Casino AZ specifically in the bigger games 60/120, the regulars will just buy a rack off you and you pocket the dime, more of a money laundering type thing at that level though I think so that when you cash out for the night you wont get put in the book.

Re: He is going south, but I really dont care
I'm confused. You claim you "don't care" that he took money off the table, yet...
1) You felt the need to tell the dealer about it 2) You felt the need to have a "talk" with the guy about it 3) You are posting about it here 4) At the end of your post you say you are "a little mad" about it Seems to me like you care, a lot. |

With the rake constantly removing money from play, I am not going to tolerate the fish doing so, as well. SpaceAce |
