Default Worst Trade in the last decade of the MLB - Your Opinion

Twins trade A.J. Pierzynski
Giants trade Francisco Liriano, Joe Nathan, Boof Bonser

Every time I look at it, I wonder "How the [censored] could one team do that?" Then I look at the 25-man roster for the Giants and see no one under the age of 47.

You're right.

Liriano could be better than Santana so I don't think you'll find a better trade than that in the past decade.

My #2 (until someone posts one better): Bartolo Colon for Grady Sizemore, Cliff Lee, and Brandon Phillips. The best prospect in that deal turned out to be a bust, but at this point Lee = Colon, and Sizemore has Hall of Fame potential.

there was the Varitek and DLowe for Heathcliff Slocumb

you could make the argument that dealing Heathcliff was addition by subtraction, so to get something for him is even better

Oh goddamnit, how did I forget about that. You forgot to add Lee Stevens, too.

Is this worst trade at the time or worst trade in retrospect?

Liriano hasn't even started a game yet. How about we actually see how these guys turn out before delcaring them hall of famers. Your trade could easily be worse in 5 years but at this moment its all about potential.

Two players that played big roles in a world series team for a horrific reliever is horrible.

What are you talking about - Liriano was crushing in the minors and he looks amazing out there in long relief (something the Twins love to do).

Nathan is the AL's best closer, and Bonser is great in the minor leagues.

EDIT: If you are going to judge a player's worth by what they do in a World Series as compared to their individual value, then "Stat Boy" is the worst name possible for you.
