Default Best Man\'s Toast

So I am the best man in my best friend's wedding, I have to make the toast in less than 30 hours. I humbly request OOT's input and shared experience with the best man's toast/speech. I'd really appreciate anyone who has had this dubious honor to share their experience here and any suggestions they may have towards a successful toast.

Regards,
Quarkncover

I've done this before and written toasts for others, gotta give a little info though. Every toast has to have a "line". Some insight into the couple, how they met, some weird aspect of their persons, anything.

General toasts are easy to find on the intraweb tho

At the end of the toast even if it is going down in flames, stop for a moment and get all serious...tell the groom that you need to let him in on a little secret about his marriage.
Tell the bride to put her hand out, and then tell the groom to place his hand on top of hers.

Then tell him that he needs to realize that this is the last time he will ever have the upper hand in this marriage.

A buddy cribbed that onto the end of his horrific speech(drunken skirtchasing stories etc) and the entire ballroom exploded in laughter.

Everyone congragulated him on a great speech afterwards.
Its all about how you end it...even if its bad in the begining or middle.

I think it's mandatory to tell an embarrasing story about your buddy. everyone will laugh, even if it's not that funny. then i'd wrap it up with something a little sentimental or serious

Until you said toast/speech halfway into the OP I couldn't understand why you had to make the groom breakfast. Exam time ruins people.

Just remember to sell it...you need to be super serious when you tell it
the whole audience gets freaked your gonna say something really revealing or bad that will ruin the wedding. thats why it works...plus its true...it is the last time he'll ever have the upper hand.

My recommendation is to do a kick ass toast. This advice has always worked well for me.
