(27) - Push or Call/Push
PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t200 with t25 antes (5 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com
UTG (t3085) CO (t2375) Button (t1290) SB (t5255) Hero (t1495) Preflop: Hero is in BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] UTG raises to t600, CO folds, Button folds, SB folds Villain here is slightly loose and aggressive. Not particularly good. Do you just push this here? I'm really starting to doubt that's the best play, but it's kinda been default for so long. Is it better to flat call here, and make some kind of move on the flop (or even c/f if the flop is insanely hideous)? |

Re: (27) - Push or Call/Push
NEVER call and C/F the flop here. That is by far the worst play.
Your only decision is PUSH vs. stop and go. You have very little PF fold equity if any. Since folding PF and C/F the flop are out of the question, I'll discount the possibility of villain holding AA/KK. You'd obviously be likely to go broke here if that's the case. Otherwise, assuming he ain't going away PF: main benefit of a push: he may call with an inferior (and even dominated) hand. main benefit of a stop and go: he may fold a PP on a flop with overcards that misses you (e.g. he's holding 88 and the flop comes 3JQ) I don't mind either option but I prefer a push here because he very easily calls with AT-AQ and if not, seeing all 5 cards and flipping ain't so bad with your stack. I may prefer a stop and go on the bubble. |
