Is it even possible to beat low limit hold\'em online?
I'm an online limit player who hasn't been playing much lately due to the ever increasing tightning of the games. When I started playing $.50/$1 on Party last August, 5 or 6 people would take a flop and show down hands like K7 and J2 (of course they were sooted, but they'd limp up front with it). Lately though the games have been very tight, with 2 or 3 to a flop, raising rather than calling, and many hands becoming a battle of the blinds. Rarely do I see an average pot exceed 9 BB. This is on Party too, which is supposed to be the fishiest site on the internet, AND at the lowest limit. With the game conditions and the rake, is it even worthwhile to play in these games (not just $.50/$1, but really any low limit game)? Interested in hearing fellow players opinions on this. Thanks.

Re: Is it even possible to beat low limit hold\'em online?
Well - if you play Imperial Poker I guarentee you can play 45% flop games up to 15/30 so the games are not THAT tight!
I saw a 10/20 limit game last night at 41% and TIGHT at that place is 35%. honest My last 300 hands in $2/4 are 41% flops (10 hand moving average) with $30.23 pots. it's like the old days. This link will NOT take you to the site - just my review Grinders review of Poker Syndicate To answer your question - yes it is very easy - as long as a table is over 28% flops you can make good money! 40% is always better though LOL Party is not even close to being the fishiest! |

I'm switching to shorthanded and no limit games for just this reason.

I strongly suspect the answer is yes with the current rake structre. Maybe not for as much as before, but yes. If the games have changed, a different set of skills may be required, though.

Re: Is it even possible to beat low limit hold\'em online?
just opening up two random .50/1.00 tables on party for ten minutes, I saw 5+ to the flop on at least 75% of the hands. there are so many tables to play on, maybe your not being patient enough in your table selection before you sit down.

Is it even possible to beat low limit hold'em online? [/ QUOTE ] not if you're playing full ring. 6max is the only way to beat LHE games these days... |

Re: Is it even possible to beat low limit hold\'em online?
ITS VERY POSSIBLE. i did so over 10's of thousands of hands at .50-1, 1-2, 2-4, and now 3-6 (all 6max). If you cant beat these games at a 1bb+, I don't even know what to say. Yah, you can come across some really tight games even at the low limits, but i'd say for every -EV game at these levels, there are 4-5 +EV tables (in other words, this game is all about table selection).

Re: Is it even possible to beat low limit hold\'em online?
you know, I'm extremely proud that I can multi-table like crazy and still beat these games for 1BB/100 (that's pretty mediocre according to 2p2ers, but these games are nowhere near as loose as they were 18 months ago)
