Can anyone explain to me...
What did the federal government provide me last year, that was more valuable to me than food and shelter combined? My income tax obligation was more than twice as much as my rent in 2005. I'm trying to save money while I'm young and unattached but I had to sell stocks (disinvest) to pay my Washington overlords. Meanwhile safe investments do not even beat the inflation created by ridiculously irresponsible deficits.

Re: Can anyone explain to me...
Don't you see? The government *needs* to take half your income to "protect" the other half.

Re: Can anyone explain to me...
Great post. I find myself in pretty much this exact situation. I won't go into details, but I've pretty much resorted to pulling a "John Galt" from Rand's Atlas Shrugged.

[ QUOTE ]
I hate how Democrats try to tell me what I should do with my money. [/ QUOTE ] The system is broken. However, that is because, inter alia, people are confused into thinking that without government any of the potential ways of income for us non-royalty would be possible. You wouldn't have a dime if we were still controlled by those with the most market power to the same degree we would be without government. Those 70 hour work weeks just to die at 35 would have been sweet. Government is spending the money on foolish things, but the money you have is do to government coming into existensce in the first place. |

The system is [censored] broken. [/ QUOTE ] Yea, when working class and middle class people vote to give HUGE tax cuts to the rich and the corporations and cut government programs you gotta think there's something wrong with how politics works in this country. Of course, from their perspective, the system is working pretty damn good. The rubes are voting against their own interests and then getting mad at the government! Gotta love the rubes! If local, state and federal taxes were cut in half tomorrow, what entity besides government would be able to ensure your employer didn't just take the windfall for himself? |
