PS MTT Hand for PS WSOP Package
PokerStars Tournament #22202609, No Limit Hold'em
Freeroll Super Satellite 282 players $11000.00 added to the prize pool by PokerStars.com Target Tournament #21017204 Buy-In: $10,000.00 Tournament started - 2006/04/06 - 16:00:00 (ET) 1st place wins $11000 package from Stars. 2nd place will get a nice handhistory as proof that he came real close partaking at the WSOP. About 50 player left, blinds about 200/400, I have about T 11000 at the button and have AQs. I raise the limp from some EP to T2000 and SB comes over the top all-in and has me covered by a very small margin, BB folds, EP folds. SB seems to be very solid but not passive (has reraised my steal raise an orbit before). I start to think, contemplate, doubt ... and fold. How bad is this? In hindsight I think it was a ridiculous fold. Right? I made it to 23rd where I busted to a river 3 outer. |

A read would help but I think you have to call. AQs is pretty strong against his probably button-reraise range.

Re: PS MTT Hand for PS WSOP Package
Meh, since you are only playing for one spot and there are 50 left, I probably call here. This feels like a re-steal. If not, the hands I'm most concerned with are AA-KK & esp. AK. I believe AA-QQ flat calls, but AK might push to see all 5. Since you cannot accurately put villian on a single hand pf & you must winn 100% of the chips to get the package, I gamble here.

Re: PS MTT Hand for PS WSOP Package
Yeah that's the way I see it also. I usually play SnGs and forget in those events that I need to win all of the chips eventually to get anything.
I played quite a lot of these freerolls by now and I am blessed that I never came real close. This must be heart wrenching. I guess I am no MTT material. |

[/ QUOTE ] I dunno - You made it fairly deep here. Freerolls don't play like a $ buy-in MTT. Try a handfull of <$25 buy-in events and see how you do, esp. by posting hands like this one that cause you to think. Many, many successful MTTers came from the STT world. I wouldn't give up so quickly! |

Re: PS MTT Hand for PS WSOP Package
I think I play above average with lots of room for improvement. But I meant more handling the psychological stuff. I keep thinking about the MTTs more than about SnGs where I just fire up a new one after a bad beat. Investing 3-4 hours and then still falling short just plain sucks.
