Paying time charges from your pocket
Last night I went to play some 1/2NL at soaring eagle in michigan. This has a $100 max buy in (gag). After sitting down and paying your first time charge ($6 per half hour )youre already down to $94. I therefore ask if I can pay my time charge out of my pocket (I happen to have a few $1s and $5s from the casino floor on me). Dealer says I'm not allowed to do this. What is the casino's reason for this rule?

Re: Paying time charges from your pocket
Yes, you can pay out of pocket.
No, you should not be playing in this game. EDIT: Wait, they said you CAN'T pay out of pocket? That's [censored] stupid. |

Re: Paying time charges from your pocket
Everyone else is paying time out of their stacks, which means that they have fewer chips on the table. This is a disadvantage. In the fairness of the game, you should not be paying time out of your pocket.
For your first fee, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to "pay out of your pocket", since you can basically just tell the dealer you're rebuying for $6. |

Time to hit the craps tables. This game is raping you worse than a member of the Duke lacrosse team.

Re: Paying time charges from your pocket

Most $100 buy in games have a rebuy cut of under $40 - so as soon as you hit $39 you can reload but not sooner. You can't keep juicing your stack everytime you go under $100. An easy way to combat this... buy in for $45. Pay time, then reload for $100. You'll sit with $139 instead of $100. |

Re: Paying time charges from your pocket
At Casino Windsor a couple weekends ago, the only time I saw a player allowed to pay his time out of pocket was when he was extremely short-stacked, like $20, and he was re-buying the next hand.
Of course, that was also the same table where a dealer didn't know that the minimum bet was the BB, and the floorperson we requested a ruling from had the brilliant idea that the minimum bet on a 1/2 No Limit table was $1 pre-flop and $2 post-flop. Then of course he decided that it would be a good idea to deal a second flop after the first one, because he hadn't screwed up enough hands yet just by being slow.... In short, I'd pretty much count on everyone involved being an idiot, and all you can do is play your game while bending to whatever asinine rules they come up with. In the end, the table is still soft enough to make up enough cash to pay for your gas to drive to Mt. Pleasant (aka the Middle of Nowhere) and possibly a meal at the Worst Buffet on the Planet. |
