Default How to play in multi-way pots

Was rereading Sklanskys Theory of Poker. He mentions Tourni players being poor cash game players, for not knowing how to play multi way pots well. I believe proper multi way stategy to be smooth calling for odds when drawing, and heavy reraises when I've got a monster with draws that can hurt me. Any thoughts on this?

Similar post different question in seperate post.

If only poker were so easy, that two sentence could describe all of postflop play...

your question is complicated. in addition to top you should reread hpfap, and ssh. especially ssh.

an example where your understanding is incorrect, would be 6 limpers to you on the button, you have ATs, AJs, KQS, KJS, 88, etc., you raise for value. another example is 5 limpers, the button a tight player raises, you have AQS in sb (you call, raising is good too), the flop comes 2 to your suit, you check (leading is good too), bb bets 6 calls then you raise for value (even out of position).

you want to develop a deeper understanding, keep reading.

tournie players often develop strategies and plays that function to their benefit in nl shortstack scenarios where their opponents are for the most part shortstacked as well. LHE is a whole different ballgame
