this guy raises most if not all of his ace-high hands preflop, so raise/call i guess.

Why not raise the flop?
If i has a FD then let him pay. And i guess you got to call the river, even do why are not good many times here, he could have a flush.

If he's really over aggro and you think he'll bite, then I raise the flop.

As to the river, he could have an A or a flush. There's a roughly 8% chance that he has an A, 2% that he has TT and 3% chance that he has a flush. So there's roughly a 15% chance of you losing.

I'm betting.

P.S. I'm a self-confessed newbie, so if someone sees a problem with my logic, do point it out please!

He doesn't look like an idiot so I doubt he bets a flush on the river.
So this is either a desperate bluff (with K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] or something) or he is ahead (or chopping).
In any case there isn't a lot of value in a river raise.

have you seen villain be tricky preflop? if so then we can include Ax, AA, TT as hands they'll opencomplete PF.

if not, then i think we have to assume villain hit the flush on the turn rather than an ace, which makes the river raise safe. But, i'd like more info before i made a decision, and if i had any inkling they were tricky, i'd just call. ask yourself, can you fold to a 3bet, because even an aggro of 3 won't be likely to 3bet the flush on the river, and there are more Ax combos than 8x combos.

Why not raise the flop?

This guy should get a medal!

Raise the flop. If 3 bet, just chk call all the way.

You have to ask is there any value in raising this river. If he's bluffing, he's going to fold. If he has an 8 he's going to raise or call and you split, and if he has an Ace, he'll 3 bet and then are you willing to fold? I don't see any value in raising this river.
