Default Why are there more fish at Party?

I think it generally agreed upon that Party has the best games with the most fish. On the other hand, Stars is considered to have tougher games than Party. I am wondering what the reason is for this. They are both about equal in size. Is it because Stars draws more of a tourney crowd because of their better structures? Is it because of their advertising campaigns? (Stars has the last 3 WSOP champs and is 'place to improve your game'. Party has grandma's playing poker and people playing with blowup dolls.) I guess there is a difference in seriousness between the two advertising schemes. Any other ideas??

Party's advertising is much more abundant (every channel all the time)and geared towards more of a casual market (weekend warriors and old ladies). Most of Stars advertising comes during poker shows only and gears itself more towards people looking to improve their skills. I think this is the main reason.

I play at both. I play each for different reasons. I played at Stars exclusively for a long time because I only played stud, but now I play NLHE, so the games are better at Party. If there are more fish at Party, how come there aren't subsequently more sharks to eat the fishies?

In my experience, there are more fish at party...but I play mainly at pstars and full tilt. That is mainly due to the swings caused by the fish. Every hand is potentially an all-in hand so the outcome of my night almost exclusively comes down to 2-3 hands. Get sucked out on them and it can be a big downer. Tilt more. Less variance at the other sites and more opportunity to make "moves" and get proper laydowns when needed. Add that to the annoying software and that's why I don't play there, despite more likely profit potential.

Party Poker is probably the most well known online poker website known to the average person. It's easy to remember, lots of ads and alot of people play on it.

Advertisement is the key. Poker stars ads arem't really interesting, they're boring. Party Poker has funny ads with funky music.

Funny adds and funny music probably have less to do with the amount of fish at lower levels then the fact that the smallest limits are .50-$1. Excluding the beginner tables of course.

I think the FPP system really hurt Stars as every 12 tabler and his illegitimate sister have come over to rockify the limit games.
