**American Idol Finals: Country Music Week

This week's musical genre is country - and it should be broad enough to provide all the contestants with an excellent song choice. I'd like to see Kat do something by Crystal Gayle. I look for Paris and Ace to struggle. What do you think?

i have a lot of chris and taylor, but gonna add some more taylor. he should have a big night if this is his song. good choice imo in an otherwise boring genre.

I jotted this down yesterday, when a friend couldn't believe I was betting decent amounts of money on this show.

Based on dialidol, the released AT&T land line results, fan polls, message board popularity, etc., a picture emerges that is not consistant with the betting thus far. I know none of the previous measures are perfect (far from it!) but when you combine them all, you can get a pretty solid idea of where everyone is right now. I would value the contestants at the following:

36 Taylor
22 Chris
12 Kellie
7-9 Katharine, Paris
6-8 Mandisa, Elliott
0-1 Bucky, Ace

I know most of you won't agree with me, but I think there is a lot of value based on the difference between what I think and what the lines are currently at....that's what it's all about, right?

I put a few bucks each on Mandisa and Paris (at +2000 and +1500) to get eliminated this week. The AOL poll has been pretty good about predicting the bottom 3 and right now Mandisa, Paris, and Bucky are bottom 3. I think Bucky has more die-hard fans than people think, I just don't see him going home on country week. I think Ace will last another week or 2 as well even though he sucks.

Of course it all depends on how they sing tonight, but 15-1 and 20-1 is a good price for those 2.

I can think of a number of country standards that Mandisa could use her big voice on to good effect - Independence Day being one. As I said before, I think Paris and Ace will both struggle with the country style. I look for Kat to rebound and Kellie should shine.
