I'm surprised this hasn't been posted yet. Cause for much delight amongst many posters - I thought. Maybe not?

I take it to mean he expects to be indicted from the Abramoff fall-out. An ex-aide just plead guilty. link

Its a shrewd tactical move. He says he is stepping aside so he can spend time helping orphans.

Fox news said that meanie Ronnie Earle ran him out of congress, but truth be told, he is under a federal investigation and just turned all of his emails over to the FBI. Plus his staff turned states evidence.

Two former aides convicted.
Another under indictment.
" Jack Abramhoff is one of my best friends..."

either Tom Delay is really really stupid and did not know what was going on
or corrupt.

Tom Delay is not stupid.
