Default MLB Blackout Rules

Somebody please explain to me why I'm watching a women's college basketball press conference on ESPN instad of the Mets/Nationals game. Is this game being blacked out in Buffalo because I live 400 miles away from Queens? I know my MLB.TV blackout restrictions are for the Mets, Yankees, Indians, and Pirates. But when did this start carrying over to ESPN and, if so, why was last night's game not blacked out?

Last night's game was the Indians and White Sox.

It's blacked out for me too in Buffalo.

Yeah, I know. But we're in the Indians home viewing range or whatever, too. These blackout rules are ridiculous; it's not gonna get me to drive 400 miles to go see the Mets. I actually would have considered getting MLB.TV, but my two favorite teams (Mets and Tribe) would be blacked out. Smooth.

I just pulled up the forum from mets.com and it looks like the game is blacked out up and down the East coast from about Connecticut to North Carolina. Thanks, MLB.

If we both bought mlb.tv, and exchanged logins, would we be able to dodge the blackout rules for our own hometown?

Alright guys. This sucks but, read here:
http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseba...034688072apr03,0,5646590.story?coll=ny-baseball-headlines

I spoke with a Directv Representative and they said they had no anticipated time for getting this network on Directv. I put in a formal complaint giving them one week or I am outta here. I know they don't care but we will see what they do. I know that they are stil in contract talks.

More later....
