Ok i just made a really big laydown online and felt i had to share it with 2+2 for feedback.
I am playing in .25/.50 6 handed NL holdem. I have about $24 at the start of the hand, the other 2 guys have me covered. 1st position raises to 1.50, I have a feeling he is strong so i just call with QQ, another person in mid position calls, everyone else folds. Flop is 10 J Q with 2 hearts. Orinigal raiser bets 4 dollars, i re raise to 8 dollars. Then the next guy moves all in and oringal raiser thinks for about 5 seconds then calls. After seeing 2 people move in i figured my set was no good, I thought someone has AK so i lay it down. The oringial Raiser had AA and the mid position had K 9 for a straight. The laydown actually didn't seem too hard to make. Thoughts? |

That was a horrible fold.
You should not have been so sure that you were behind, and even if you were sure that you were behind, you had the odds to call to try to fill up. Even with the hands your opponents had, your fold cost you about $10 of expected value. You were actually a favorite in the main pot, winning about 34% of the time, and there was a huge amount of dead money. |

When i thought about it i realized i was probably getting odds to outdraw them considering i could triple up but it aws my entire online bankroll at the time so i didnt want to gamble for it all. As far as knowing i was behind in the hand though i was about 90% sure i was beat based on my read and how the table played.

top set in a 3 way pot, no question you have odds to boat up.
thats IF you are behind. there's decent chances you aren't go broke. |

[/ QUOTE ] That you feel compelled to make such horrible plays if you have all of your money on the table should show you what a bad idea it would be to have all of your money on the table. You didn't mention it before, so I don't believe you. I think you were looking for a pat on the back for recognizing that such a big hand might not be ahead, and didn't realize that your fold made no sense anyway. That was a waste of our time. |

What did i not mention before? I didnt at the moment realize i would be getting odds to outdraw, I thought about that after the hand was over, and if you feel I am wasting your time feel free not to respond.

Reading the responses, I shouldn't be surprised, but I kind of am. With a 2 - suited flop and three to a straight, I think it's a tough call. You weren't leading with your set even after the flop.
I think it's a matter of perspective. You probably should have pushed in, but you knew you were beat. Harder to read online because there's some stupid players out there that would bet anything. I've lost too many hands with pocket Q's..... I think it wasn't a bad laydown. |
