What have you done?

What have you done that makes you able to say the world was better off with you than without you?

This obviously excludes ALL "I'm so f*cking great I adore myself so much that I wish I could f*ck myself if it wasn't gay" responses.

For me:

Helped tons of foster kids, some of whom were brutally tortured and/or raped by their parents, get a presence of mind to realize the universe could be more than a nightmarish setting in which they were under constant attack and had to do everything possible to prevent and, if possible, cope with future horrors.

The next step was letting them realize that there was time and room for love in the world, and that they could be part of it, and that they themselves could be lovable and love.

This also extended to my own brothers and sisters, who though not sexually abused, also had some pretty awful childhoods due to my f*cked up 'rents.

I think I have extended this to a lot of emtionally disturbed friends and just regular friends and partners, many of whom could not get similar understanding elsewhere because society tends to deny that these kinds of problems even exist, much less that they are notable or worth caring about or addressing in any honest way.

What have you done to make you feel that the world was a better place once you were in it than before you were here?

Do you care that there's anything?

Will you?

I saved someone's life when I worked in Ibiza...

However, I'm sure if I hadn't been there, somebody else would have been...So ultimately there is probably nothing that means the world is better off with me than without me...

I'd like to think I am + to the world as opposed to -...

Blarg,

If military service counts...

helped build a school and a church in Eritrea, have also volunteered several times for Habitat for Humanity, helping build homes.

Other than that, I am a certifiable waste of skin and space.

The only thing i can think of is making my parents and sisters happy from time to time. Maybe even proud every once in a while. And i'm generally a nice person, atleast i hope i am seen that way [img]/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

I kicked the commies asses in Korea. Other than that I've raised a skinny little pansy that spends all his time on dope. I just hope he doesn't get the girl next door knocked up.
