I haven't posted this info on All Vegas Poker yet, but I thought some of you may like to know what The Venetian plans to spread.
Limit Hold'em: $4/8 $9/18 $20/40 $40/80 $80/160 and up. No Limit Hold'em: $2/5 $100 min / $500 max buy-in. $5/10 $400 min / $1,000 max buy-in. $10/20 $800 min / no cap. Stud and Omaha will also be available, but just like every other poker room in Vegas that claims to offer these games, there will have to be enough players to get 'em going. The most interesting point here really is the $9/18 game. This will be the only regular $9/18 game in Vegas. The last Vegas card room that regularly had this game was Palms. At The Venetian, the $9/18 will be played with $3 chips (although on opening day, they may have to play it with reds and whites if the $3 chips don't arrive in time). Kathy Raymond, formerly of Foxwoods, is the director of poker operations, and she is really excited about the potential action this game may induce. If you've never seen a $9/18 game live, the pots get enormous. There will be poker tournaments throughout the week with buy-ins ranging from $65 to $500 I believe, plus low buy-in (under $100) SNGs. The poker tournament director was most recently at Bellagio. For those of you wondering whether The Venetian will really be able to get these big games going, I think the concern is valid. But The Venetian has one huge advantage over most poker rooms in Vegas - built in high-rollers. We all know it has been tough for Caesars, and even Wynn to get the big games going, but I honestly think The Venetian may be able to pull it off. I don't have the empirical evidence to back this up, but I've heard that The Venetian enjoys an average hotel room rate of around $400 per night, which is probably greater than Caesars, and possibly even Wynn. In other words, the people who visit The Venetian, are the type of people who can afford to visit Bellagio, which until now has really been the place for high stakes. Also, more than any other poker room in Las Vegas, The Venetian was built from the ground up for high limit games. Just look at all the money they poured into their exclusive poker lounges for the major players. Not even Bellagio can compare to this. Look at the pictures, or better yet go check out the poker room in person when it opens April 2nd. The poker room opens Sunday night at 9:00 PM, and it should be a really exciting grand opening. I'll be there, so please say hello if you see me. |

[/ QUOTE ] Just for the curious, dealers have been trained for 2-7 Lowball TD and Badugi - if people want a game and can find enough people... I expect the room to have a ton of 4/8, 9/18, and 2/5 NL running with all the conventions that come through the casino. |

This sounds promising. I hope they're able to get games going. What limits will be in the high limit room? Only 80 and up?
I'll definitely at least check it out next time I'm there. -Craig |

I stayed at the Venetian last October for $130/night in a "view" suite. Not everyone there is a high-roller.

Last summer I stayed at the Venetian for $99 a night using priceline. If you choose 5 star strip hotels and $99 the only hotel that would pick it up is the Venetian. You could get most weekends at $149 as well.
This may have changed recently check BetterBidding for latest Priceline tricks. |
