Default What do I need to bring to the taxman?

Hey I made an oppointment to H&R block tomorrrow. I made 33.5k last year from poker(only source), and I've made that already this year too. So I'm filing as a pro.

What documents should I bring? Thanks very much.

PS -this is my very 1st time filing tax's

groan, I hate H&R block.

Agree with Ted, bring prep H. Your azz will hurt afterwards.

Call them and ask, you're paying them and they should be able to tell you in detail what you should bring. They should have went over it with you when you made the appointment. Did you tell them you were filing a schedule
C?

Don't let them charge you more than $200.

And I know this probably isn't relevant to your situation but NEVER get a refund anticipation loan.

I just said I wanted to come in and do my tax's. So maybe I will call them back and ask them like you said.

Do you suggest not going there? There is another place but it doesn't look as professional, and I would hate for them to fvck up.

Thanks

go to a real cpa and get a repore going. you wont pay much more but will have better service and hopefully will save more money in the long run. also insist on one that keeps all its records in house and doesnt send your taxes to india to do. yes they do that.

OK thanks guys. I just canceled HR block and called a CPA. She says I should file under "other income" to save the 15% Self employment tax. What do you guys think?

probably a bad idea because then you can't net. you have to declare all your winnings then deduct your losses. which would especially hurt if you aren't planning on itemizing because you lose your standard deduction.

thats my understanding at least.

It also hurts if you have so much in gross winnings that you become subject to AMT.
