I really don't know much about this subject. I was looking at various schools recruits for next year when I saw that a guy for Arizona committed in Feb of 2003. He committed about 45 months before he will even play a game.
1. Is this accurate or did someone have a typo? 2. If it is, how common is it for a guy to commit that early? |

It's not that common, but it's becoming more common. I forget his name, but there's a guy who committed to UCLA when he was in 8th grade.

lol, anyone remember the Mr. Show skit about this? Bob and David played recruiters going after kids when they were in elementary school.

You can make a verbal committment at any time. Damon Bailey verbally committed to Indiana when he was in 8th grade. Of course a verbal committment means very little and is not binding in the least. You can't sign a letter of intent to play for a school until the fall of your senior year, though. LOI's are more binding.
