Gambling at the Taj - Delayed Trip Report

Two weeks ago I was east coast, and found myself with a Saturday night to spend in AC, and I'd miraculously thought to bring some gamblin money.

Went to the Taj. I hate that place.

Took the first open seat from the high limit board... 15 stud. God what a boring game. I always forget how small stud plays compared to holdem. Especially east coast stud compared to southern california holdem.

No open seating in any of the holdem games, so I ask the tourney people if I can play the swing $300+40. I'm 20 minutes late, but they sell me a seat. I cash out of the 15 stud game, +$450.

Five hours later, I bust out of the tournament in 3rd of 90, for a $3400 profit. It's possible that I played the final table poorly, but it's hard to be sure, because I was alternating between beer, and redbull vodka, so I was way past drunk. The two remaining runners instantly make a deal.

I go sit 15 stud again (open seating), then leave it about 10 minutes later, and sit 30 stud, and hope to god it's a more interesting game. I LAGged right over these guys. They kept talking about what they thought I had when I'd check-raise them on fifth, and they kept putting me on flushes and boats. I'm not sure if I even had a pair for the first hour. Lord knows they didn't make me show one. Stud starts to bore me again, when I notice there's open seating at the 75 game.

Sanity prevails, as I remember that I suck at stud. So instead, I go play a game that I'm good at. Craps. $25 pass and come bets, $50 odds. Lather, rinse, repeat until I realize that the drink girl is too slow, and there's a chance I'll sober up. Cash out +$1500

I throw a bill into a slot machine, to make a valiant attempt at losing, and I fail again. +$300 on the first spin. Laugh, Print the ticket, and cash it out.

I go back to my hotel, and scrub the Taj off of my skin. I can't get it all off.

God, I hate the Taj.

hmmm, so you made 6000, the stud game was soft, and you got lucky....but the chips are dirty so you hate the taj?

Max: Only reason I went to the Taj is because I figured there'd be no waiting, because everybody hates the Taj. I was right.

When's Borgata opening that swank new room they were talking about last year?

how many people bet/fold 5th street in stud? why did they give you so much credit for hands when you didn't have to show down? in any event, nice win.
