Default Road trip ideas?

Three friends and I are thinking about taking a road trip sometime around the third week of May, but we don't know where we want to go. We live in southern OK (think halfway between OKC and Dallas), so we are pretty close to the middle of the country. Nothing is too far to consider. Ideas so far include Washington D.C., with a stop in Bowling Green, KY to tour the Corvette plant again (we went through there when they were building C5s), possibly a stop in Sandusky, OH, and who knows where else. I would enjoy hitting a beach somewhere, so PCB, FL sounds good to me. Cali/Vegas would be fun. Basically, I'm looking for ideas from you guys on where we should go and what we should do. If you know of any great road trip must-see stops around the country, include those too. If we get close enough, we may check it out. More than likely, we'll do this in true road trip style where we know roughly where we are going and some things we want to do, but for the most part, we'll be playing it by ear as we go.

So, what have you got for me?

If you're going through Kentucky...the corvette factory is cool and you can go to mammoth cave which is pretty cool if you're into that stuff. After that you should go through Louisville and hit up Caesar's. You can also come down I75 from there and hit up (I think) 5 single barrel bourbon distilleries. The tours are good fun. There are some pretty nice clubs in Lexington if you are going before college gets out. Uhh Eastern Kentucky doesn't really have too much. Some nice golf courses right by West Virginia. If you want any more info pm me.

If you've never been to Cedar Point, it's an absolute MUST. Best amusement park in the world. I've been to Six Flags, Busch Gardens, Disney World and Land, nothing comes close.

I toured the assembly plant and the museum a couple of years ago and I'd love to go back.

I'll have to google that. Sounds interesting. I went into Onyx Cave when I was young, but I think that was the only cave I've ever been in. IIRC, I've been in a mine or two also.

Google says it's about 3 hours from Bowling Green. It's more or less on the route to Sandusky too. That's a possible stop, but I suspect that the guys I'm going with won't want to make a stop at a casino unless it's a trip focused on gambling (Vegas, Biloxi, etc.)

Might be interesting. I'm not a bourbon drinker, but I'm sure I'd still enjoy a tour.

It will be just after finals. These guys are more the bar/pub type than the club type, but I'm sure we'll get hammered regularly on the trip.

Thanks for the suggestions. If we go east, I may get in touch with you for more info.

That's the reason Sandusky was suggested. I just couldn't remember the name of the amusement park. I think one of the guys has been there before. Either that or he's just wanted to go for a long time. I forget which. May or may not get that far north, but if we do, it's an almost certain stop.

Heh, when I think Mexico, I don't think west. I think Matamoros, which is almost directly south. Of course, Tijuana is certainly west of here. Socal/Vegas is high on my list, but I'm not sure what the other guys think. Why should I tell them to head that way? I know that there is a ton to do out there, but I just don't know what. I haven't been to socal in several years, and it was a family trip, not a bunch of guys on a road trip.

Since you mentioned it, is a passport required to go to Mexico these days or are we fine with just driver's licenses?
