400 6max: fishy boat play
This hand is just... clumsy. I played it ridiculously passively, but I really didn't mean to at first. The bet/minraise in front of me left me in a bit of a problem, how do I not make my hand obvious here and keep players in the hand? Regardless of how things worked out, there has to be a better way to play this.
SB is 43/17.5/1.5 but only 50 hands. BB is 43/10/1.5 but only 40 hands. No real other reads besides that they are both poor players, with bad hand evaluation skill (i.e. paying off) but I have a hard time seeing them make such a blunder if I 3 bet this flop. I obviously called the turn to keep SB in the hand. Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (5 handed) converter Hero ($416) MP ($280.66) Button ($757.40) SB ($1272.14) BB ($569.42) Preflop: Hero is UTG with T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $2. Hero raises to $16, 2 folds, SB (poster) calls $14, BB calls $12. Flop: ($48) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) SB bets $45, BB raises to $90, Hero calls $90, SB calls $45. Turn: ($318) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, BB bets $150, Hero calls $150, SB calls $150. River: ($768) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, BB checks, Hero calls $160 (All-In), SB calls $160, BB folds. Final Pot: $1088 p.s. what on earth does bb play like this? pair lower than tens? |

You get all-in with topboat, who cares how it happened?

Re: 400 6max: fishy boat play
flop is fine, turn call is equally fine because you will only have 160 left in a big pot regardless of if SB calls, and you want to do everything that you can to make him call. BB is just an idiot

I don't see any other way to play this, given your stack size and the willingness of your opponents to throw their money at you.

I think you played it fine. These guys don't care what you have, only what they have.

Re: 400 6max: fishy boat play
I dont think the play is awkward at all. It may seem so, but the way the hand was played, it is perfect. What would you have done if you had an overpair on that flop? That is a much better, and tougher scenario. Thoughts?

Re: 400 6max: fishy boat play
you played fine.
flop is so drawless that there are likely no action killer hands. and since you hold TT, its unlikely they have T so I like your play. |

Jason [/ QUOTE ] Its funny that you mention this because my first inclination was that one of them had a 5 and I wanted to rep an overpair, but realized that 15 seconds was not enough time to figure out how to do that. I'd probably 3 bet the flop and fold to more action? |
