Local $1/$2 NL game, critique my play
There's a local 1/2 NL game and buyin is from $60-$300. I usually sit down with $100 and play as follows:
From any position i'll limp in with a pair and try to flop a set. If it's raised (standard raise is from $10-$15), i'll fold unless I have 88 or better. I just want to flop a set because i'll usually get paid off. In late position i'll limp with suited connectors. I raise from any position with AA,KK,QQ,JJ,AK,AQ. Sometimes from SB or BB depending how many people in the pot I will just call with AQ. For the most part I play TAG, and I almost never bluff. I've been doing pretty good in the game, but is there anything I can do to improve? |

I know, I should sit in with the max but my bankroll isn't big enough yet. Once I get it there I will.

you really shouldn't be playing 1/2 then =/
There aren't any smaller games around your area? |

sit with 300 [/ QUOTE ] Experienced players will give you advice like mak15 did: about stack sizes (both absolute and relative), position, betting tendencies, number of players in the ring, how many way action to the flop, etc. Because these things *matter*. Not much of what you said in your post matters. Search around and look for posts on NL theory, like bet/stack sizes, position, etc. Pretty soon you'll see there's very few serious posts on starting requirements... because it just doesn't matter that much. I'd link you to some posts, but my absolute favorites are older than the archive. =( Tip #1: if your bankroll isn't large enough for the game, you shouldn't be playing it. Having less than a full buyin doesn't even COUNT as a 'bankroll'. Good luck. Fistdantilus |

I have $600 as my "bankroll". I wouldn't mind playing .25/.50 or .50/1, but this is the lowest limit game they have, and theres really no where else to play. I play home games but my friends only like tourneys.

You're bound to lose all your money very quickly, even if you make 0 mistakes, you could run bad a few times.

Might be valid in your mind, but it sure won't fly with reality. As to where to play: it looks like you have a working internet connection. Hint, hint. Re: Local $1/$2 NL game, critique my play
I've played online before, but I think I should stick to live play. I'm just someone who can't focus when I play on the computer. I have the TV on, im blasting music, chatting with 5 people simeltaneously on AIM, and I just don't focus on the game.
