Did you know that "the message" by Grandmaster flash was actually terrorist propaganda and also doubled as a trigger for terrorist sleeper cells?

Look at the lyrics, its in there. I promise.

I'd like to know how the greatness of soul music, and Motown, got replaced by the trash of Rap. That's all.

I think Grandmaster Flash is merely conveying the bubbling angst and frustration he is experiencing due to being persecuted and trapped in an urban ghetto.

NYC DJ's in the late 70's started using 2 copies of the same record to loop small segments of drum breaks while an MC rapped over the loop. The records used were soul/r&b/funk and disco records. Later on when it was taken to the studios the original artists merely continued doing what they knew how to do ie:make beats.

Perceiving it as crap has little to do with the assertion that it is a progression or a mutation of the older genres you enjoy.

Is this a rap song or a soul/funk song? I can identify the samples used for rap better than I can identify lyrics.
