I\'m baaaaaaaack
After a great vacation, lots of tequila and some beautiful women, I'm back at the table. 6-max is where I'm at now, and it feels much more natural, although I haven't played many hands yet. I'm really focusing on hand reading, and I feel like this hand is one situation I find myself in a lot. My biggest question is that I feel awkward on the turn here. It seems like a scared value bet, which seems intrinsically wrong to me. I should be value betting when I know I'm ahead, and here, i certainly don't know that.
Party Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 5 players Converter Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is SB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] UTG, folds, CO (poster) checks, Button folds, Hero calls $0.15, BB (poster) checks. Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($0.75, 3 players) Hero bets $1, BB folds, CO calls $1. Turn: 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($2.75, 2 players) Hero bets $2, CO calls $2. River: 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] ($6.75, 2 players) Hero checks, CO checks. Results: Final pot: $6.75 Anybody raise pf here? BTW, I cleaned up in the little poker games we played in our hotel over the vacation, so that made me feel a little better |

Re: I\'m baaaaaaaack
I usuallt get things wrong but PFR - no way, never, and no - that is my humble opinion. I would also play the hand carefully, there is not much money on table and you never know what ppl have when there is no monetary pressure.

Re: I\'m baaaaaaaack
I play it exactly the same, maybe only bet .50-.75 on flop but that is splitting hairs. No PF raise either. Why do you feel the turn is a scared bet?
What do you do if he bets river? |

Re: I\'m baaaaaaaack
maybe this is weak-tight, but I feel like when I bet the flop and am called (with no reads, btw) I am behind. What is he calling me with on this flop? I feel like occasionally this is a 7, but the vast, vast majority this is an A. And most A's here beat me. I would have c/c a small river bet and c/f a big one. Perhaps this is bad?

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, it is weak-tight. I bet flop and bet turn, and assume I'm ahead until someone puts in a raise. As played, you should bet $3-4 on the river for value. Checking (especially if you are going to call a bet) is leaving money on the table. |

Re: I\'m baaaaaaaack
i raise this pre flop, seems like a couple of ppl say this is a bad idea, but something ive noticed is that some1 posting and there first hand, is the next best thing to free money, they dont want to take you on when they have no idea who you are and BB gives you more credit for a hand since your raising over a limper.
u get more hands calling u on the flop if u bet someting like 1/2 to 2/3 |

Re: I\'m baaaaaaaack
I value bet the river putting villian on a weak A, weak PP, or a 7. And no, I do not raise this preflop OOP with A9o.
