Default Dell Laptop Battery Problems...

I have a Dell Inspiron 600m that I bought just about a year ago. I've had several problems with it so far: had to replace the hard drive, the battery, and the power cord for the battery (all have been covered under warranty). Now, when I plug the power cord into the wall, the green light goes on, it's clearly holding the charge. However, when I plug it into the computer the green light goes off and it immediately stops charging. If my computer happens to be on when I plug in the cord, it immediately shuts off and gives me a "Computer shut down due to overheating" message when I power on again. If it's off the power cord just drops the charge and the green light goes off.

I don't know if I just got a defective computer or what; I've had four Dell laptops in the past without any problems like this. Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be here? Dell has been good about replacing the stuff so far, what should I be asking them and asking of them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

TPK
