Block admits in his paper that liberal Berkeley is not representative of the whole country. But within his sample, he says, the results hold. [/ QUOTE ] Color me unimpressed. |

Re: Whiny kids grow up conservative, Confident/Resilient, liberal
Why does the majority of "self reliant" kids flock to socialism?

Re: Whiny kids grow up conservative, Confident/Resilient, liberal
Anyone who thinks whiny, introspective kids are more likely to vote red has not spent enough time on a college campus.
Resilience and self-reliance are, in my eyes, much more closely related to conservative values. |

Re: Whiny kids grow up conservative, Confident/Resilient, liberal
[ QUOTE ]
For instance, there was a .27 correlation between being self-reliant in nursery school and being a liberal as an adult. Another way of saying it is that self-reliance predicts statistically about 7 per cent of the variance between kids who became liberal and those who became conservative. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Whiny kids grow up conservative, Confident/Resilient, liberal
is 95 kids really a significant sample size? I haven't read the study or anything, so ignore this if i've ignored something within, but this doesn't seem very trustworthy. And I'm neither conservative nor "Confident, resilient [or] self-reliant", so don't say I'm biased

Re: Whiny kids grow up conservative, Confident/Resilient, liberal
Of course a conservative would be whiny and anti-social if their parents lived in Berkeley. How would a liberal feel if forced to live in Provo?
They were probably force fed sprouts and tofu. |
